How to invite a friend?

I got a beta invite today and I'm trying to invite a friend so I have someone to play with but I can't find where to do it!

Some help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Right click on the Stream tray icon. Click on friends. At the bottom it says 'Add friend'... Click there, a search box will appear. Type in your friend's name and click on search. If you've found his profile, click on it and at the top right of his page it'll say "Add to friends list"... Click on that, and then he just has to accept the invite :)

Ah I misunderstood a bit... Check your gifts, if there is not a Dota 2 gift there, you cannot invite him... Otherwise, just send the gift to him
