well last I saw the official release date was late 2011, Q3 or Q4
I know the registration for beta testers is already open for replay submission
They've had quite a bit of time to work on it so far, even prior to the public getting the announcement, so I'm sure they have some decent work done so far

Erm, DOTA2 isn't out yet. How good a game was it again? xD

All games are better before they're released XD
Then they go from perfect to buggy and disappointing XD

Why did you quit when they took easy mode away? o.O
Was that all you played?
EM is such a distortion of the real gameplay, everything becomes carry centered and it promotes such bad habits and eliminates a great deal of the strategy available in the regular gametype.

The new Casual Mode they replaced it with actually isn't all that bad.
It's kinda a merging of both worlds, so that the skill gap between CM and NM players isn't as large as it was between EM and NM\

Even back in dota, em games never seemed shorter than others.  You have more powerful items sooner...but so does everyone else, so its just the same base turtle earlier, but takes longer to finish.

yeah, but the Honcast delay software is only 2 minutes or so I believe, which probably isn't enough to be fair

i just dont think anyone cares enough to check the replay 10x over for people messaging XD

hon is only 30$
less than the entire wc3 chest =_=
assuming its not just flat out pirated lol

hon was on sale for 10$ around christmas or so, you missed out!

certainly doesn't make it the better game, just means they have deeper pockets to have gotten themselves the featured game slot last year

Yeah, I knew it would be after they featured it in 2010
Much sadness

I suppose, I'll try and cover everything. XD
So, it started in HoN beta, I found vVv through a recruiting thread on the HoN forums.
Played as a ringer to their team for a few tourney matches here and there, prolly about 50/50 in terms of wins and losses.  Down the road a bit, during a clan inhouse, the current team captain was getting pretty fed up with the screwups (potentially trolling) of one of the other members on the team.  Long story short there, captain dropped some pretty heavy language, including making a thread with some exceptional racial comments, and thusly was banned from vVv within the hour, and removed from clan in game.

So, with the captain gone, several of the vVv HoN team recommended me to the owner when he asked who would be taking his place.  I agreed to head the HoN division, and organized an A and a B team for tournament play and inhousing, etc.  At the time, it was vVv's policy that staff members could not play competitively, and thus I was not on either team, but more like a manager for both.

A month or so later, prior to HoN's going retail, I ran a invitational tournament, sponsored by vVv, S2, and Steelseries.  The winner of that was either clan 5 (now SK Gaming) or WHP (now Evil Geniuses) as they were essentially far and away from the rest of the HoN pack at the time.

A couple months into HoN retail the HoN A team's members ended up going their separate ways due to, mostly, their enormous DotA egos XD  Basically 4 of the members wouldn't really recognize the authority of the captain and ended up playing the blame game when things went wrong.  Despite efforts to smooth that over they decided it would be best to take a break.

We had a community team for HoN for a bit just for inhousing and tournaments if people felt like taking on the challenge, but nothing serious at that point.
Myself and vVv's owner decided at that point that the reach and notice HoN had was not really anything special.  And instead started to focus on LoL instead as it was just selected for the WCG feature.  I ended up having another member of vVv staff take over the LoL team as after about a week of trying LoL I realized it was pretty much dreadful and I'd never be able to take a real interest in it XD

I got promoted to PC Manager and did recruiting for WCG2010, and shortly after that stepped down from staff due to the fact that I have two other jobs plus univ classes and life was a little hectic to be doing lots of research and upkeep.

So currently I'm just a vVv commmunity gamer, and I handle the media updates to the xfire and steam community groups.

I think that about covers it, probably more detail in there somewhere but its 2am and that's asking a lot XD

Oh yeah, add on forum admin to that vVv task list lol.

Prior to coming to HoN, myself and a friend from Canada ran several private servers for various MMO's, namely, RF Online, Cabal Online, Perfect World, and Lineage II, where I got most of my forum admin/gm/management/leadership skills hah

Yeah, I don't really know where he's going with that...
I mentioned HoN's friend tracking and the regular spectator slots at one point, but I don't know where they'd go from there.
It seems unlikely there's a way for any number of people to observe a match that's ongoing without terrible issues with ghosting.

At least competitively, for the mentor system they mentioned in their original announcement sure, but I don't know how they could possibly control this.

My thinking is it's just going to be limited specs like HoN, with a lot of emphasis put on the spectator UI.

I didn't say it couldn't be done.
But 100% usage of your PC is kinda retarded for a single game.
It's not an issue I had to deal with firsthand given my PC eats others for breakfast, but the tech help forums were flooded for a while until they patched some stuff coming out of beta.
